Frequently Asked Questions

Most patients who need to undergo a VMA have a number of questions about the procedure, what they can expect, and other issues. At Primero Med, we understand how important it is to feel comfortable with your exam. That’s why we’ve put together the following collection of frequently asked questions about different issues relating to VMA exams and patient needs.

Should I take my medications before the VMA?

It is usually advisable for patients to continue with their normal medication routine unless their doctor advises otherwise. You should, however, let our technologists know what medications you are currently using.

How should I dress for the VMA?

Wear loose, comfortable clothing that doesn’t include metal zippers, snaps, fasteners, etc. Metallic objects can disrupt the imaging process, and therefore need to be avoided. Cosmetics are discouraged as many brands contain trace amounts of metals.

How long will the VMA take?

The length of a patient’s VMA can vary, depending on a number of factors, but in general, a VMA exam will take between 15-20 minutes.
